For anyone interested about getting a copy of there DD-214. Link provided will assist and they will mail it to you. All you do is fill out the request and fax signed copy and it is done.

When I retired in February 1990 I took all 6 DD-214's I had that cover all 6 periods of my U.S. Naval Service, stapled them all together and took them San Diego County Recorders Office and had the entire document recorded. I have the serial number avialable so should I ever need a certified true copy, I just go to the recorders office give the serial number and get a certified true copy.

Rander I did the same thing and I can get a copy anytime I want which will be notorized: But what I hadn't given a lot of thought too was the freedom of information act which means my DD-214 is now public record. I believe it has a two fold meaning, 1) I can prove I did what I said. 2) Some jackass can get information about me and use it to their gain instead of me.

I sent off for that DD-214 just because I wanted to see if it worked and how long it took. So far I haven't received my copy yet and I will have to contact them in order to find out WTF is taking so damn long.
