I'll stop putting my pics in the Midway News and move them here.

The C-2A below is assigned to VX-31 at China Lake. It is the First C-2A with the 8 blade propeller.

I don't know what Buzz thinks, but I don't care as long as you keep posting them. You get some of the best shots.

THe Midway museum News Thread was gitting away from its original intent, to posst items of interest about the ship and its aircraft and people. For 3 or 4 pages on that thread, was urned into a forum community gathering spot where we talked about thins other than USS Midway itself. After a 3 week vacation, I'll go o the ship and get some pics of Ol' Midway and those I'll post in the Midway News. I'll post pics of events from Naval Base Coronado(NAS North Island) here.

For More pics from North Island go to this link: http://www.apsocal.com/index.php/topic,399.0.html

Begining monday July 13 The Fleet Readyness Center South West will host a group of inspectors who are here to deturmine if FRCSW is to get AS9100/AS9110 certified. Basically they will look at us to make sure we do what we say we do. they will look at all of FRCSW's directives, instructions and SOP's to mke sure we comply with our own documents. It's a BIG DEAL at North Island.

Rander, did you try creating a thread in Midway News since I made the change?

No, Buzz I did not. I don't think I have anything signicificant about the ship, the aircraft or the volunteers to post that hasen't already been posted or linked to previously to todays date 07/10/2009. When I get a series of Midway or North Island Pics I'll put a link to the www.apsocal.com site because I can post 10 pics per post or reply there, and those here that want to see my pics can click on the link.

I posted 7 helicopter pics on the apsocal site today 07/10/2009 with my new Canon EOS-50D camera and a Tamron 200-500 mm zoom lens. The Squdron is HSC-23 The Wildcards. reply #175.

I occasionally make a reference to Fenway Park in my posts, To us photographers Fenway Park is the parking lot behind the North Island officers club known as the Island Club.

NOt mush happening at NAS North Island.

Below are a couple of shots from 11/04/09. The first pic is of a C-2A Greyhound doing a Short Field Arrested landing do to the left engine being shut down. I've tried to inquire wbot what caused the left engine shutdown, but I've recieve no responses yet.

THe second pic is a H-60 with an I.F.R. probe installed. at first I thought it was Navy but with dark grey paint it maybe an Air Force visitor.

I Haven't yet heard anything. I too was thinking chip light or fuel pressure or a propeller malfunction.

I'll be interested to know.
In P-3's we never feathered for prop malfuntions, due to if it was serious like a loss of prop fluid you could end up with a runaway prop. What motor do they have in the cod?
Also,Rander, have you heard of this company:
appclix.postmasterlx.com/index.html?pid=...eed&codes=IN-IND
Is the military giving all the ground jobs to the private sector now,or is this just for the RAG outfits up there?

I do not know what dash number T-56 they're using with the old 4 blade propeller. you'd have to ask Ojive he may know after all he works at the C-130 PMA at Pax River Ojive may be able to help with that answer.

I have not heard of AECOM until now. Appears thy are one of a bunch of companys bidding on DOD contracts. They are after all a glorified staffing agency. From the way that announcement was worded, This looks like a first time contract for the California Air Guard. Mostly they are seeking aircraft servicers, crew chiefs, and plane captains. The California Air Guard flys F-16C aircraft (not sure about the C model) AECOM will be looking for people with F-16 Experience, However, If you have Military experience with other fighter/attack aircraft they will give you fair consideration. AECOM may be looking to hire 90-100 people. THey know they will not find 90-100 F-16 qualified people, THey will find some F-16 experience people and AECOM will have to fill in the rest based on experience level of the candidates who submit applications with other aircraft experience.

If you are thinking of applying go ahead and apply It wont hurt you to check them out.

All of the T-46A training squadrons are all contract maintenance Vx-30 at Point Mugo and VX-31 at China Lake are both Contract Maintenance. I personally work contract maintenance with L-3 Vertex Aerospace based in Oklahoma City. L-3's contract was for 2 years 09/01/2006 til 08/31/2008. So far the Navy has extended our contract 4 times the current extention is until 12/31/3009. Back on june 23 rd FRCSW gave atour of FRCSW's facilities to reprsentatives of 11 potential contract companies trying o land part of or all of the contrat that L-3 has. We contractors have been hearing that our nxt contract will be a DOD contract for 5 years and not a Navy contract cthat would be for only 2 years. No decisions have been made yet. My personal feeling is that we will be extended one more time.

Just so you know I work in Component Repair Department at Fleet Readyness Center South West (FRCSW) an not direct aircraft supporrt. Component Repair recieves most of our work directly from the fleet, we also support the aircraft being overhauled F-18, C-2A, E-2C, H-53E, SH-60, AH-1, UH-1, CH-46 and AV-8B)and aircraft based at North Island as needed
