scratchbuilding a 1/350 Midway 1990-1991 for a friend. photos from the start of the project. i'll post progress along the way. by the way the first seven photos are 7 months ago.

That's really cool and a lot of work. And believe me, I know. I was given a 1/35th scale Bradley model. I turned it into a 1946 Wehrmacht command vehicle that never existed. I used the chassis and drive system but made the entire super structure new resembling a Panther body. It was fun! I guess I could put a couple of pictures on here. Models can be good theropy and just loads of fun.

The Midway hull,flightdeck,island has been built for my friend. He will take over with more detailing to the hull and flightdeck as well the island. I'm pretty sure he will be posting more of the build up of his ship.

It's amazing the acreage and configuration carriers have grown since the U.S.S. Langley, a converted coal carrier. I love our Navy. It's the only branch that has 3-dimensional warfare.
